Yeoryios Semertzis (aka Yorika) is a self-taught artist, creating paintings since 2014. He was born in Hagen, Germany in 1976 and moved back to his hometown Thessaloniki, Greece, at the age of ten. Since 2010, he lives in Leeuwarden, Netherland. Pointilism was his beginning obsession, but as soon as he got familiar with acrylics his work got into Symbolism. Mostly a lover of bright colours and intense contrast, he is creating, since September 2015, symbolic abstract paintings, usually with acrylic and also with oil. His newest creations are inspired by Gerhard Richter's rakeltechnik (squeegee). In 2016, he participates in his first group exhibitions, curated by Art Expertise, in Florence, Italy.
