The Lino's story
"I'm from Jovellanos, a town in Matanzas. Over there I've my house and my family, but I must be here because my mother is calling me. She is protecting and helping me. Yemaya is my mother", he said me during an interview.
"I was a dancer of the Cuban Folkloric Ballet, but the bad eyes and the witchcrafts were terrible for me. They made me damage", he added during another interview.

Lino inside the church of Our Lady of Regla. He is praying to the Virgin in front of one of the altars of the church ( the Virgin of Regla is understood as the Orisha Yemaya according to the syncretic tradition).
The altar represents the Orisha Yemaya. It was made by Lino. Frequently in the morning is possible to find altars like this around to the church. Lino is the creator of them. To get them, he uses religious images and dolls that he recovers next to the temple.

The performance "Oh mio Yemaya". This performance happened in 2019 in the village of Regla. the actions happened in the waters of the Havana's bay. On that day, Lino participated in the performance and he accompanied to Betty, one of the performance artists during one of her performatic actions

"I'm from Jovellanos, a town in Matanzas. Over there I've my house and my family, but I must be here because my mother is calling me. She is protecting and helping me. Yemaya is my mother", he said me during an interview.

Lino is a man with mental disorder and a type of Cuban homless He also is an addict to the alcohol, according to version of people that visit the church of Our Lady of Regla frequently. Over there it is possible to find him everyday. Lino is the creator of the singularity altars that every morning appear around of that Catholic church. He makes them with recovered pieces of religious figures. These altars are a perfect exemple of the cultural syncretism in the town of Regla.
