This skilled watercolor painter uses the ‘pure’ watercolor technique, also known as the ‘English Method’, for the creation of his paintings.
Shvarzblat received a Harkness Fellowship in 1980. Two years later, he received a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 1992, Chayim represented the USA at the Venice Biennale.
In 1983, Shvarzblat started working at the Oxford University, London, as an artist-in-residence.
During the ’90s, he was as a professional illustrator and portrait artist on commission.
In 2010, Chayim started working at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University as a visiting professor. He teaches atmospheric watercolor, both in-studio and en Plein air.
